Chitika CPM Ads Now Available Print
Chitika has announced that that their effort to bring CPM banners to their network of publishers and blog writers (bloggers) is live.

"the results are excellent as we have seen an immediate increase in revenue across the board," said the ad network's statement.

Your author is a blogger and magazine publisher using Chitika but I've yet to see any revenue attributable to the new CPM advertising inventory.

Chitika says that the ads will display when they calculate that a CPM ad will earn more than a CPC ad impression. This is especially true, says Chitika, for Canadian traffic.

The ads will look different than traditional mini malls or the other units like clouds. Apparently, the CPM advertising will always feature graphic banner ads. Chitika allows you to opt-out of CPM advertising, but I can't imagine why you'd want to do that.

My experience with Chitika has had high and low points. When they first arrived on the scene the CTR was pretty good and so was the revenue. Several months later the revenue plummeted and so did the number of ads I sent them.

In recent months I've begun to play with fine targeting of some of the CPC units and the results are bearing fruit in some cases. The key is to pick 1) keywords (products) of interest to your audience; 2) picking keywords (products) of highest click value.

It will take experimentation and testing (use the channels feature to track your results) but you should be able to find a home for these useful site monetization units.

We have more information about Chitika and Chitika tips (two separate pages).
