In practice, they offer a very real alternative to monetizing (making money) from your website. Run your mouse over the top of the ad. See how the tabs change? Pretty cool and very effective.
You get paid on a per click (CPC) basis. In other words, if your visitors - not you - click on the ad - you make a percentage of what Chitika makes. That's essentially the same deal you get with Google AdSense.
There are two ways to run the code - contextual and non-contextual. If you run Google AdSense code - you can not run Chitika in contextual mode on the same page.
