DoubleClick Power Outage Kills Affiliate Tracking Print
A server 500 error greated publishers who tried to reach the DoubleClick Performics website on the morning of 8 December 2007.

According to a statement e-mailed to publishers late in the afternoon (PST) that same day, the company "experienced a system outage due to a complete power failure at our data center."

The statement went on to explain that affiliate sales tracking, links (serving?), and system availability were all effected, though data was "protected."

It is difficult to understand how a business with DoubleClick's resources could possibly experience a complete power failure at their data center.

While the company states the cause is under investigation, no information was given about the loss of revenue to publishers.

According to DoubleClick, the outage lasted from 9:30 am CST to 2:30 pm CST.
