Blogger BlogSpot Spam Epidemic - Google Abuse Print
I've written about the GooglePages spam problem before and now we can see how the "Don't Be Evil" Google hypocrite continues in their abuse of net users by allowing their spam problem to continue through Blogger BlogSpot spam.

Yet again there is a Google property URI in e-mail spams bouncing off our server: blogspot.com (from Blogger.com account pages).

Most of the spammed URLs contain code to auto-refresh to the spammer's actual site.

Anybody with a couple of braincells could create "honeypot" e-mail addresses to catch these spams, auto investigate (bot the url on the server), check for the auto refresh, and finally check the IP used to sign-up for the Blogger account - let alone a business with the resources of monolith Google.

Then, once confirmed, whack the account and ban that IP from Blogger registration, and, or, all access.

Google has made a corporate choice not to do this.

If they did do it, in a timely manner, this method would not pencil for the spammers.

What does Google claim as an ethos? Don't be what? Evil was it?

Sigh.

Writing up this rant I checked the URIBL info (as of 22 June 2008).

According to the URIBL Hoster/Freeweb Abuse List:

Rank NS Host Listed Active Percent
1 blogspot.com	890	891	99.89%

Pretty appalling.

And, as I've also said before, there is a never ending stream of Gmail spam sign-ups to forums and galleries. And Google refuses Spamcop reports.

Thus, to me at least, it is pretty clear that Google is creating a significant part of the spam problem.

Update: On 22 June 2008 an e-mail spam was sent to one of our domains with this URL: cfarina41612.blogspot.com so it is pretty clear the problem continues.

Matt Cutts, what say you sir?
